Mysore sees lakhs of people arrive during October for the grandeur of Dasara, with the magnificent procession of the golden mantapa on decorated elephants, the lighting of the palace that uses 6 million bulbs, and the Jumboo Savari, with the festival held in the streets since 1610. Mysore Palace receives more visitors every year during its high season than the world-famous Taj Mahal. Tourism is what the rest of the world perceives about Mysore.
However, there is much more to Mysore beyond its tourism-oriented legacy. Mysore is the second-largest city of Karnataka, and it is the second-largest software exporter of the state after Bangalore; some of the IT companies based out of Mysore include Infosys, Wipro, BEML, JK Tyres, Nestlé, AT&S, TVS, Asian Paints and central government research institutions, including CFTRI, DFRL, CIPET and RBI Note Printing Press, most of which are unknown to the outside world. There are two industrial corridors currently under development, one is called the Bidar-Mysore Industrial Corridor, whereas the other is developing along the Bangalore-Mysore axis. Industrial development of Mysore started way back in the year 1911, during the Mysore Economic Conference.
Mysore is known to be among the cleanest cities in India, situated at 770 meters above sea level, with a moderate climate throughout the year, and a 94-kilometre ring road planned around the city. TechCentrix is hiring HR professionals at various levels in Mysore right now.
Three economies run simultaneously. Tourism and hospitality — hotels, restaurants, heritage experiences, the retail economy around the palace district — is the most visible. It creates service employment that doesn't disappear between festival seasons because the city receives domestic tourists year-round.
The IT and manufacturing economy is the substantive growth driver. Nanjangud — Mysore's satellite industrial town — alone hosts Nestle, AT&S India, Reid and Taylor, Jubilant, TVS, Asian Paints, and JK Tyre. Nanjangud Industrial Area is the second-highest VAT contributor in the state after Peenya in Bangalore.
The institutional economy is the third pillar. CFTRI conducts food technology research. DFRL handles defence food research. The All India Institute of Speech and Hearing provides specialised healthcare. The RBI Note Printing Press is a central government operation with its own staffing needs. The University of Mysore has 127 affiliated colleges with 53,000 students — creating a large educational employment base.
KPSC – Karnataka Public Service Commission – conducts state government recruitments. Mysore, being a significant administrative city with five assembly constituencies having their own district administration, always has the government recruiting in various departments like revenue, education, health, and administration departments.
KSSB handles lower-level state recruitment for Group C and D roles. These positions circulate through the portal consistently.
Central government institutions in Mysore have their own recruitment cycles. CFTRI, DFRL, CIPET, and BEML each recruit scientists, technical staff, and support employees directly. The RBI Note Printing Press recruits through the Reserve Bank of India's portal. These openings don't appear widely on aggregator platforms — direct monitoring of institutional websites is the most reliable approach.
Railway hiring through South Western Railway covers Mysore Junction, which connects to Bangalore, Mangalore, and Chamarajanagar. Group C and D positions come up regularly, and the RRB portal needs consistent monitoring.
Karnataka Police runs regular recruitment cycles. NHM Karnataka brings healthcare government roles year-round. Mysore Medical College — the first medical college established in Karnataka and seventh in India — creates consistent demand around its affiliated hospital for government healthcare positions.
IT and Technology
Infosys's Mysore campus is one of its largest training facilities globally. Wipro maintains a significant presence. TechCentrix is currently hiring HR professionals at all levels — assistant to manager — at ₹13,000 to ₹28,000. The broader IT ecosystem includes ArisGlobal, Larsen & Toubro Infotech, and Excelsoft Technologies. For engineers and IT professionals, this is genuinely Karnataka's second software city.
Manufacturing and Industry
Nanjangud industrial area is where the serious manufacturing employment sits. Nestle, TVS, Asian Paints, AT&S, JK Tyre — ITI and diploma holders find the most consistent access through direct applications to HR departments. The four KIADB industrial areas within Mysore city — Belagola, Belawadi, Hebbal, and Hootagalli — add more options across production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
Silk and Traditional Crafts
Mysore silk is not a cottage industry, but a GI tagged produce with markets in the country and outside. The Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation and other private weaves require weavers, quality testers, designers, and export marketers. Sandal wood sculpture, rose wood inlays, and brass metal craft all have their own employment circles.
Tourism and Hospitality
The city receives about three million visitors a year. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, tour operators, and events management companies employ staff throughout the year. The Dasara festival results in a peak of recruitment from August to October.
Banking and Finance
The SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, and Canara Banks are all present here. Relationship manager and sales officer positions absorb commerce graduates regularly.
TechCentrix's HR assistant position is a genuine entry-level corporate starting point — only a graduation degree is required. The salary range of ₹13,000 to ₹16,000 is competitive for Mysore's cost of living.
Tourism and hospitality entry roles are consistently available. There are hotels around the palace area, restaurants in the city centre, and travel agents who operate Coorg-Ooty tours that take freshers on board even without any experience.
Education-related employment includes tutors and assistant teachers at the 127 institutions affiliated to the University of Mysore and schools. Coaching for competitive examinations like the KPSC and others in Karnataka is always in demand.
Delivery platforms — Zomato, Blinkit, Swiggy — are active in Mysore and are onboarding quickly with a two-wheeler. Banking sales trainee positions require only a graduation degree.
Mysore's yoga and wellness tourism economy creates social media and content opportunities that most practitioners don't pursue. Studios, wellness retreat operators, and heritage tourism businesses need a digital presence that freelancers can provide.
The large student population across five assembly constituencies and 127 affiliated colleges creates consistent tutoring demand. KPSC preparation coaching is particularly active — Mysore's educated population generates a strong demand for public service exam support.
Remote work in IT is accessible here. As Infosys and Wipro have normalised a hybrid work culture, remote contributors and freelance developers have more options than before. Content writing and digital marketing for tourism businesses is a growing part-time track.

For HR and corporate roles at TechCentrix and similar firms, apply directly through JobVumi with Mysore as your location filter and only look at listings from the last three days. First applicants consistently see better response rates.
For manufacturing roles at Nanjangud and the KIADB industrial areas, walk directly into facilities with your resume. Most units in Nanjangud don't fill vacancies through portals — HR departments respond to walk-in applicants, especially for ITI and diploma holders.
For central government and PSU positions at CFTRI, DFRL, BEML, and the RBI Note Printing Press, bookmark each institution's career page directly.
For tourism and hospitality, approach hotel HR departments directly around the Mysore Palace area. Most heritage properties prefer in-person applications and fill positions before listings appear online.
Mysore has been a centre of deliberate, planned development since the 1911 economic conference. The Maharajas built it carefully — industries, university, medical college, planned streets — and the city still benefits from that foundation. The people who look past the palace lights and into the industrial areas of Nanjangud, the Infosys campus at Hebbal, and the CFTRI laboratories find a job market that has been consistently growing for over a century.
