Cashier

Key Responsibilities

• Transaction Processing: Scan merchandise, process cash, credit/debit card, UPI, mobile wallet, and gift card payments accurately using Point of Sale (POS) terminals.

• Cash Register Management: Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensure correct change distribution, and manage safe drops for high cash volumes.

• Customer Interaction: Greet customers warmly during checkout, answer general questions regarding store policies, handle returns or exchanges per company policy, and resolve minor billing discrepancies.

• Bagging & Packaging: Package purchased items carefully according to product size, weight, and fragility.

• Promotion & Loyalty Support: Inform customers about ongoing store promotions, discount coupons, and encourage enrollment in company loyalty programs.

• Counter Maintenance: Keep the checkout, billing counter, and surrounding impulse display areas clean, well-stocked, and organized.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: High school completion / 10+2 diploma (bachelor's degree or coursework in commerce/finance is a plus).

• Experience: Prior experience as a cashier, retail Associate, or billing clerk in retail stores, supermarkets, or restaurants (freshers with basic arithmetic skills are welcome).

• Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and familiarity with POS billing software (e.g., Tally, Petpooja, Quickbooks, or retail POS setups).

• Numerical Aptitude: Strong mental math skills for fast, error-free cash calculations and change handling.

• Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication, patience, attention to detail, and a high level of integrity and reliability.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to remain standing at the billing counter for extended periods during shift hours.
